Jack Davenport (pictured left) confides that his efforts to grow his own vegetables have not been as productive as he’d hoped. “The soil at the beach is quite salty, so it’s tricky,” explains the British actor, who composts, recycles, and drives “a relatively economical car. I don’t have any phot-electric cells on the roof; maybe I will someday. The jury is out on whether it’s really as eco-friendly as people think it is. It’s the same argument with the Prius — it uses less fuel, but there’s the battery process,” he says, though he’s certain of one thing: “You don’t need those ridiculous-sized cars. A smaller car will do.”

Davenport, who plays Lloyd Simcoe, a scientist mixed up in FlashForward’s global blackout mystery, wouldn’t want to get a glimpse into his future, like the show’s characters have had. “No way! I’m frightened enough of the future as it is. I don’t need to know. Ignorance is bliss.” Even if it could be good news? “Yes, because it might not be good news,” he insists. He did, however, want to know his character’s future before he signed on. “I wasn’t going to sign up for five years potentially, having no idea who the character was. Everyone likes to work, but I’m not that desperate. I needed to have a vague idea what was going on.”
