It was amazing, after a few minutes you forgot that the horses were puppets. Hubby, Andrew and I all cried like babies. Must see the movie now to see if it does the story justice. If you have the opportunity GO SEE IT, truly it was incredible.
I cried during the FIRST scene of Lion King. Clearly, big animal-shaped puppets make me cry. But War Horse... War Horse was just amazing.
And I'm definitely seeing the movie, too - if anything, because Benedict Cumberbatch is in it - but I will try to keep expectations down, just in case.
I read the book when I was in primary school (I was horse mad) and *criedcriedcried* many, many tears. It was *not* what I had expected. Good, though, but I can hardly remember it now.
I was horse mad too as a girl. Then I discovered boys and bye bye horses. I used to take riding lessons in Central Park. It was fantastic, the busiest loudest city in the world and in the park it was like you were in another time and another place.

(Also, for those not in NY, I'm pretty sure it's going to tour around the US, at least to LA)

You're probably right about the movie, but I must see it anyway.
