Lol, now tell me if I'm seeing things but I swear in that first picture those are his mustardy colored shoes he put black shoe polish on, looks to me like there are creases in the same places and everything. And here I thought he actually sprang for a new pair. :)

No I think they are new shoes and those are just the seams, I have boots like that.
