WAITING FOR HANNA

Hi guys
Spent the morning battening down the hatches, so to speak.   We put a tarp down and filled the living room with 10 flower pots, our garden gnome (a gift from Andrew), the flags, the table and chairs from the patio etc.  I don't think it will be bad, but you never know.  We are on a barrier island that tends to flood, so hubby drove to the main land (his folks) and is going to leave our car there.  His mom will drive him back.
I baked a strawberry pie early this morning and made a pot of chicken soup (very Martha of me, I know)  Laid out all the candles and otherwise prepared.  Came back into the kitchen after all these chores and the countertop is moving.  WTF.  ANTS!!!!!!
We have lived here since May and I never saw an ant in the house before.  Now there is a family reunion of sorts near the microwave.
Do you think they sense the storm coming?  Does anyone know a safe way to get rid of them?  I don't want to spray something and then have a baby born with 3 ears.
If the power stays on, I'll check back in with you.

I hope Hanna will pass without causing you too much trouble. As for the ants - though a baby with three ears would be a fascinating thing to see, I'd suggest you try the good old "clove and lemon" method. Just stick five or six cloves in a lemon half and put them next to the place where the ants roam. If you don't have any clove, try cinnamon or orange oil. Those are all natural remedies that ants hate. Tried and tested. :)

Of course you could get yourself an anteater, but...

Hey Miss Molly, Hanna passed with just some rain. Now we have to move everything back outside.
Thanks for the ants advice, I'll go to the grocery store to pick up cloves, already have the lemons.
